On January 15, the opening ceremony of the "Sports Capital 2024" project was held in Guba. After the National Anthem was played at the ceremony, the memory of the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence. The mascot of "Sports Capital 2024" called "Fuji" was presented to the public. Ilgar Mahmudov, the head of the Guba District Executive Power, and Farid Gayibov, the Minister of Youth and Sports, spoke at the event. After that, Minister Farid Gayibov presented the symbolic key of the "Sports capital" to Ilgar Mahmudov, the executive head of Guba region. Demonstrations of basketball, badminton, table tennis, alpaca, sambo, taekwondo, judo, wrestling, kickboxing, boxing, volleyball, football, chess, backgammon, cycling, tug-of-war, kyokushin, mass-wrestling and other sports were received with great interest by the participants.
